Andrew Garfield is back. “The Amazing Spider-Man” star, who hadn’t committed to any films outside the franchise since landing that life-changing role back in 2010, has now signed on to his second project since landing the lead in Martin Scorses’s long-gestating “Silence” in May. THR reports Garfield is attached to indie drama “99 Homes”, which was written and will be directed by Ramin Bahrani.
Garfield is attached to the role of a man who loses his house to foreclosure in this dire economic climate. Eventually he finds a job with the manipulative broker who took his home, foreclosing on other families and eventually helping his new employer embezzle money from the government. As his financial woes disappear, his conscience rears its ugly head, as it tends to do at inopportune times. No word on when filming might begin, but filmmakers are now searching for the broker to play opposite Garfield’s character.
Garfield had been poised to become of the new A-Listers to take over Hollywood after his critically acclaimed role in David Fincher’s “The Social Network” coupled with a career-making get in becoming Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”, but though he was pursued for various projects, he had not committed to a film since becoming Peter Parker. Well, now he’s done with “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ and has “Silence” set to film next summer and is clearly accepting scripts and offers again. Yay!
